The Gospel

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel

What is the Gospel:
Mankind sinned against God. Mans rebellion caused separation between man and God. Man’s sin earned him everlasting damnation and hell. But because of the immeasurable amount of God’s love, He made a way to reconcile man to Himself through the life, death and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a sinless and blameless life but was crucified as though He was a guilty sinner. To put it into better perspective, the wrath of God was poured out on Jesus on the cross as if He had lived your way of life though He did not. All you have to do to be saved from hell is repent of your sins (turn away from them) and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the best news that any man can hear.

Why is it Good News:
The word “Gospel” means good news. And it is good news because you and I have sinned against a Holy and just God. He cannot let any sin ever committed go unpunished otherwise He would not be just. The punishment for your sin will either have been on the cross or it will be eternally in hell. Placing our faith in Jesus means that our debt gets cancelled. If you have a heap of speeding fines that add up to $50 000 and someone else pays the fine for you, you would be so thankful to that person. How much more thankful should we be that Jesus Christ paid the fine for our sins by His life’s blood on the cross. Now God can let you walk freely on the day of judgment all because of what Jesus did.

Are You a good person:
Here is a quick test to see if you need a saviour:
Have you ever lied or stolen? Have you used God’s name in vain? Now Jesus said if you look with lust (sexual desire) you commit adultery in your heart. If you have done these, which we all have, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart. If He judges you by those ten commandments (we only looked at 4) on judgement day you would be guilty (like the rest of mankind) and end up justly in hell. However, because God is kind and rich in mercy He provided a saviour. Though we broke God’s Law, Jesus paid the fine by dying on the cross: “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Then Jesus rose from the dead and defeated death and all you have to do to find everlasting life is repent of your sins (turn from them) and put your faith in Jesus. Then you have a promise from God, who cannot lie, that He will grant you everlasting life.

How to share the Gospel:
There are many ways to share the Gospel, it is just important that you get the message across of sin, the coming judgement and hell. Pray and ask God to give you guidance on how to share the gospel, and as always: practice makes perfect. A rule you can use is Grace to the humble and Law to the proud. I would recommend watching Ray Comfort on how to biblically share the Gospel. Link to his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/thewayofthemaster
